European renewable energy funds pull in billions as average size hits $2bn

We were very pleased to see research from our study on European Energy Transition Funds shared by Net Zero Investor in this article from Michiel Willems.

This article reports on our findings that allocations into European renewable energy transition vehicles are gathering pace faster than ever before, with total allocations to the sector now amounting to over $60bn globally, up almost 70% from the previous year, with European energy-transition-focused funds now accounting for half of all such funds globally, and the average size of such funds reaching $2bn.

Delving into the emerging trend of generalist asset managers launching thematic funds to capitalise on a growing market, our research shows that ESG performance is now considered by many LPs to be the new standard, and are encouraging GPs to implement KPIs on ESG matters to track decarbonisation effort across portfolios. Given the increasing relevance of sustainable investments, we are glad to see our client, Eiffel Investment Group, leading in this field.
